About the Big Bug Girl
Hi everyone! My name is Bella, but many of you know me as the Big Bug Girl.
Ever since I was a child, I’ve been fascinated by insects. I loved searching my family’s garden for ladybugs, roly-polies, caterpillars, and praying mantises. Halloween meant dressing up as my favorite bugs (ladybug was a repeat), and I begged my grandmother to take me to the butterfly pavilion so I could admire every detail up close. While other kids played with Barbies, I was running my imaginary bug zoo with stuffed insects. I’ve always just been a girl who loved bugs.
That love grew into something bigger when I started sharing my mantises online. What began as a casual Instagram turned into a platform where I could connect with others and shift how people see insects—from something to fear into something to appreciate. Every bug I’ve cared for has had its own personality, its own quirks, and its own place in my life.
Over time, that passion naturally expanded into a love for reptiles. What started with bugs turned into building a home filled with animals I truly connect with. I’ve never felt more like myself than I do now, surrounded by my snake, chameleon, frog, and other reptiles.
But in both the invertebrate and reptile spaces, I’ve noticed the same thing; they’re heavily male-dominated. From creators to branding, it often feels like there’s little space for women in the industry to thrive. I found myself searching for apparel that reflected my love for these critters while still matching my style… and coming up short.
So I thought—what if I made it myself? And shared it with you?
